When did you first realize you wanted to be an Author?

From a young age I would write short stories. I was really encouraged by my parents and that helped a lot.

What would you say is your interesting quirk that only happens when you are writing?

Well, my dog – a greyhound, likes to lie on my feet whilst I pound away at the keyboard.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in writing your books?

The darkness that truly exists within people. For my upcoming novel, The Field, I discovered a strange couple who were Satanists and had named their child Lucifer – seriously! When penning Glory Hole (just released on August 9th by Spore Press), I learned how the geography of the locations you are writing about has to be perfect. Readers are not stupid and will lose all sense of believability if things don’t ring true.

Where did you get ideas for your books?

From the darkest recesses of my very being.

Out of all the books you have written which is your favorite and why?

I love all of them for different reasons. Glory Hole because it was my first baby.

Who is your target audience?

Really – the horror audience. I consider myself a fanatic and do not want to let the horror fans down.

What do you think makes a good story?

Something believable and that is earthy – gritty and dark.

Who are some of your favorite Authors?

Clive Barker, Charles Dickens, Stephen King, Roald Dahl, Dennis Wheatley, Richard Laymon, Edgar Allan Poe and H P Lovecraft.

Sid HaigIf you could pick one actor to play a character in your book in the movie version, who would it be?

Sid Haig as Ivan perhaps?

Who are some of the people that influenced your love of writing?

My parents, teachers and friends

What kind of TV shows do you like and do you find that as a Suspense/Mystery Writer that you gravitate toward the shows such as Law and Order or Perry

I consider myself more a horror writer. I love programmes on the paranormal, Masters of Horror, Tales from the Crypt, Seinfeld, Only Fools and Horses, and soaps like Coronation Street and Emmerdale!

If you had one piece of advice for an aspiring Author what would it be?

What would you like to say to friends and family of Authors (not just your own)?

Thanks for the support. There are many out there who will try and knock you down but with good support, you can return a stronger person for it.

Is there anything else you want to share with your readers?

Feel free to check my blog and message me with comments. I love to hear from fellow genre fanatics!

Claire sipped her tea anxiously as she glanced at the clock, bottom right of the computer screen. It was the third time in the past two minutes she had checked her monitor. This was no ordinary Tuesday afternoon; it was four fifty-eight, and Claire had to prevail through the awkward, incessant monotony of  whole two minutes of clock-watching before she dared leave her desk and maybe her previous, proud, youthful innocence behind. Claire was in search of that experience. She had yearned for four whole, hard, tiresome days, since she had unwittingly entered that very place—that place, God, how dark… how dirty… how… exciting.
