When did you first realize you wanted to be an Author?

If I’m being honest, probably childhood, really. I was always making up stories and worlds in my head. I became serious about writing in college and then really started to focus on it (more than just a hobby) about five years ago.

What would you say is your interesting quirk that only happens when you are writing?

Oh, this is a good question. Recently, I notice (as have others in my household) that I’ve started talking to my characters outloud, instead of just in my head. And not just at the computer, in my office. So, I’ll be washing the dishes and BAM, Asher and I are having an entire conversation. It’s becoming odd, actually – lol.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in writing your books?

To be honest, I’m surprised I can write from a male point of view. I’m always stunning myself when writing the guy characters in my books, since I am not, in fact, a male – lol.

Where did you get ideas for your books?

A few years back, I had read what felt like every single story there was out there within the paranormal genre (which is my absolute favorite). As a reader, I was craving something different with new worlds, unknown characters and bad guys that I had not ever been introduced to previously. So, I tied in my love for mythology and romance and created The Revelation Series.

Out of all the books you have written which is your favorite and why?

Restraint is probably my favorite. I love a lot of the dialogue in it with Asher and Eve.

What do you think makes a good story?

As a reader, there’s nothing I love more than becoming completely captivated by a book. Especially if it has amazing world building, fun characters and excellent dialogue. Then when I’m finished reading, if  I’m truly sad and feel empty without the story, that in my mind, makes a good story.

Who are some of your favorite Authors?

Currently, I’m obsessed with The Stage Dive Series by Kylie Scott. I also have a total author crush on Jay Crownover and her Marked Men and Point Series. Jane Austen is a long-time favorite.

If you could pick one actor to play a character in your book in the movie version, who would it be? Picture of the Actor

Alex Pettifer to play Gage Gallagher.

Who are some of the people that influenced your love of writing?

In high school I had an extremely passionate English teacher, Mr. Cleary. He loved Shakespeare and would stand on his desk while reciting a lot of the sonnets. You couldn’t help but absorb his enthusiasm.

What kind of TV shows do you like and do you find that as a Paranormal Writer that you gravitate toward True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Lost Girl and others that center around Preternatural or Supernatural Creatures?

I’m almost embarrassed to say this, but I really don’t love shows that are centered around preternatural or supernatural creatures *cringes*. I do however love Sons of Anarchy and Game of Thrones. I’m also currently obsessed with Bravo’s Ladies of London series.

How are your Supernaturals different from the traditional mythology?

Gargoyles in general have always been portrayed as ugly stoney creatures. Always protectors, but more creature than human. I hope my clans come across more human and appealing to lovers of this genre.

What is your view on the Paranormal “Craze” that’s going on, do you feel that it is a fad that people will look back on and laugh or a lasting interest that will birth classics to come?

In my opinion, paranormal and urban fantasy are so much fun to read and write. It allows you to push the boundaries of daily beliefs and take you places you could only dream of. Add to that the forbidden love romance and I think that most people get swept away. I’m not sure the genre will birth classics in the sense of Shakespeare or Jane Austen, but I do think it is a genre that has longevity. It’s already proved to be a pop culture favorite, and that’s really where I think this genre will succeed for many years to come.

What other genres do you write?

I also write contemporary new adult romance. I have two stand-alone books that will be published after The Revelation Series is completed.

If you had one piece of advice for an aspiring Author what would it be?

The only advice I could offer is to take the plunge. As long as you write a story you love, then it’s worth putting yourself and work out there.

What would you like to say to friends and family of Authors (not just your own)?

Be patient with us. For a span of 3-6 months we’re usually very stressed, working on character development, dialogue, world building, marketing, social media, being a spouse and/or parent, plus in some cases, a full-time employee. We do the best we can, like anyone else, so patience always works. Oh and buy ear plugs. We love to talk incessantly about our characters and plotlines. 🙂

Is there anything else you want to share with your readers?

I wouldn’t mind just taking this opportunity to thank all the readers who have embraced this series and welcome Revelation and Restraint into their reading libraries. For those of us who are authors, there is nothing more meaningful than writing a story that people enjoy.

Thanks so much for having me today, it’s been a lot of fun!

 Excerpt From Book 2:

“Sleep Over” – Asher and Eve, Restraint Excerpt

I’m brushing my teeth when Asher swaggers into the bathroom. He leans his hip against the counter and just watches me. It’s starting to freak me out. I squint at him before spitting.

“Can I help you?”

“Huh?” he asks.

“You’re staring.” I tip my toothbrush at him.

“Am I?” He tilts his head to the side and crosses his arms.

I spit one last time and start my flossing routine and gargle my mouth rinse, all while Asher just stands there, observing me. Seriously, what’s he doing?

“Curious about dental care?”

“Curious about you,” he shoots back.

He shrugs. “I like watching you do normal, everyday things.”

I blink. “Did you get clocked in training today?”

“No.” He slides his hands into the pockets of his pajama bottoms. “Want to have a sleep over?”

“Sleepover?” I repeat, less than enthused.

“Pajamas, pillow fights, gossip. You know, sleepover,” he clarifies, like I’m an idiot.

I sigh. “You’re freaking me out. What the hell is going on?”

He reaches for me and grabs the hem of my tank top, pulling me towards him. I stumble a bit and have to place my hands on his shoulders for balance as he tugs me closer. “I want you in my bed tonight. I was hoping you’d fall asleep in my arms.” His eyes lock onto mine.
